GVA Williams of Conn. has signed a 10,080 s/f lease for Butterfield 8 at 112 Bedford St. in downtown.
Butterfield 8 will take over the former Temple Bar in the heart of downtown. According to Stacy Libby, vice president, and the broker who represented the landlord, Mario Associates, "The building owners were extremely selective in regard to the type of tenant they wanted for this important location in downtown Stafford. Butterfield 8 was the perfect tenant for this historic building. They had the high-end sophistication that this part of Bedford St. warranted."
Serving american bistro, the first Butterfield 8 opened in mid-town Manhattan. According to the owners, Chris Coco and John Gazzola, the name was inspired by a list of old Manhattan phone codes (Butterfield was the neighborhood code until the 1960s); they were further intrigued by Elizabeth Taylor's Academy Award winning performance in a movie by the same name. The owners also created Public House, McFadden's Saloon and Savannah Steak. They are in the process of expanding across the country with each of these concepts.
Other GVA brokers involved with this transaction included: Deirdre Corcoran Foote, senior VP, and Cory Gubner, CEO and president. Foote said, "This marks the 2nd location for this high-end restaurant and lounge. It will be an exciting addition to the heart of downtown, as well as accommodate a more mature demographic."
