Green Buildings
The number one question asked at The Green Roundtable's NEXUS Green Building Resource Center is: who in my area is offering environmentally-friendly services? In response, The Green Roundtable has launched the NEXUS Green Service Provider Directory (GSPD), a free resource connecting businesses and individuals with the companies providing green services in the Boston area and beyond.
The GSPD is a fast-growing database of companies providing green services. Entries primarily feature building-related services - from design firms to contractors to energy-efficiency experts. In addition, given that the green building and the "green business and green living" worlds are inherently connected - the directory includes a number of companies in the business and lifestyle arena, from green printers to green lifestyle consultants.
"The concept of the Green Service Provider Directory is not to certify or endorse green professionals," states NEXUS Education Coordinator, Paul Marquis - the GSPD Project Manager. Â "Rather, the purpose of the GSPD is to consolidate and publicize information about a service provider's background, such that the consumer is empowered to make an informed decision when selecting a service provider. The intent is to create a resource whereby consumers can evaluate a variety of companies across a range of experience and credentials."Â
With questions that probe into the company's mission statement, explore their definition of "green" and quantify and qualify their green intention and product, the GSPD provides businesses and consumers with the critical questions they need to create their own green criteria. Whether you're interested in searching for a service provider or adding your company to the directory, check the GSPD out and let us know what you think.
