Konover Construction Corp. (KCC) completed a renovation project at the University of Bridgeport's Fones School of Dental Hygiene Health Clinic. KCC was construction manager for the project, which is part of a $20 million campus-wide, multi-year improvement project for the university. The project will help the clinic expand its services to underserved populations in southwestern Connecticut. "This was a 21,000 s/f conversion of the fifth floor of the health sciences center to a new, state-of-the art 30-chair dental clinic," said Joseph Minoski, KCC's onsite project manager. "The renovations will help the clinic enhance its services and expand its outreach to provide treatment and services to a larger population of senior citizens." All work on the clinic, which is now fully ADA-accessible, was completed while the building was fully occupied and operational. The project included the integration of new M/E/P systems to meet the clinic's operational requirements. The clinic serves as a low-cost provider of comprehensive dental hygiene treatment for the public. Established in 1949 and accredited since 1953, Fones was the first school of dental hygiene in the world.
