White River Junction, VT Jewett Construction completed work on a mixed-use residential development at 132 South Main St. The project was a collaboration between Jewett and Nexus Architects.
The building is made up of contemporary studio apartments that are situated near a revitalized downtown, the Northern Stage Theater, Briggs Opera House, as well as dining, shops and stores. All area hospitals, major employers, and Dartmouth College are less than ten minutes away. The steel-framed building features studio apartment homes and in-unit amenities such as a stacked washer/dryer unit, stainless steel appliances, oversized tile showers, granite countertops, and off-street parking. Many of these apartments also feature balconies. The building houses a total of 68 residential units as well as a parking garage and 2,800 s/f of commercial space.
The design of the building was inspired by the nearby Gates-Briggs Building, the Village at White River Junction, and the architecture of Railroad Row.
“We were very excited to partner with Ledgeworks and Nexus Architects to build this project,” said Alain LeBlanc, vice president of operations at Jewett Construction. “A lot of planning and thought has gone into this building, recognizing its positive contribution to the community and local businesses. Having a great place to live goes a long way in helping to attract and retain talented people. Building this structure on a compact site that lies in the middle of downtown was a unique challenge. This project required vision and trust in our incredible project team and we are proud to see this project help contribute to the transformation of Downtown White River Junction.”
