Shirley, MA BoomX Cannabis opened their recreational adult use retail dispensary at 114 Lancaster Rd. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. They were joined by town officials, members of the board of selectmen, marijuana subcommittee selection board and the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking on behalf of the town, town administrator, Michael McGovern said, “The process right from the get-go, the select board wanted to make sure this was as open and transparent as possible. While it may have added some length to [the process], I think we ended up getting the right partner. We’ve had many conversations over the last two to three years and never has it been a difficult conversation. It’s always been a team effort, so thank you.”
Located off Rte. 2, BoomX Cannabis is now open. The recreational dispensary is temporarily cash only; an ATM is located on site for customer convenience.
BoomX is owned and operated by the Massachusetts-based Cardillo family. They began in 1948 when family patriarch, Anthony “Red” Cardillo, founded his family-owned construction business, A. Cardillo & Son, Inc. Since then, three generations have grown the business from a single bulldozer to a multi-divisional general contractor and real estate developer. Their 75-year history in the construction industry working together as a family taught them the essential elements of a successful business. It’s these values and experiences that serve as the foundation for their new venture in recreational cannabis.
BoomX Cannabis co-founder and CEO, Anthony Cardillo remarked, “We want to thank the town. We started this process in 2019 and the town really wanted to be sure that they chose the right partner. On behalf of my family, we’re really flattered that you chose us…Everybody in the town has been very supportive. We’re excited to be in Shirley and we’re excited to be a partner in the community.”
