Newport, RI Rhode Island’s creative future takes center stage at the Fall 2024 Design Catalyst Showcase on Wednesday, December 11th, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Innovate Newport. Celebrate the innovative talent of the 2024 Fall Catalyst Cohort as they share the stories of their incredible creative small businesses. DESIGNxRI invites you to meet inspiring designers, explore their outstanding work, and connect with the vibrant Rhode Island creative community. The event features a lineup of eight design businesses:
Boxed in Black (Crystal Da Cruz) – A luxury gifting experience that offers curated boxes showcasing Black- and Brown-owned brands, designed to inspire meaningful connections and a purpose-driven approach to gifting.
Figs & Ginger Studios (Rhonda Dudek) – Figs & Ginger offers handcrafted, sustainable jewelry, unique workshops, and creative experiences that blend artistry with nature. Celebrating over 19 years of meaningful, eco-friendly craftsmanship and community connection.
Fire Mountain Metal Works (Benjamin Filchak) – Fire Mountain Metal Works crafts custom metal builds, restorations, and designs. With precision and artistry, each piece reflects years of dedication to metalwork mastery in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Night Light Neon (Nick McKnight) – A full-service neon studio in Providence, RI.
Planeta (Shiloh Cabot-Miller & Atlas Alvarado) – A multidisciplinary studio that produces immersive spaces centering queer joy and uplifting QTBIPOC folks through audio, visual, and tactile experiences.
The Rainbow Beard Show (Ricky Katowicz) – ‘The Rainbow Beard Show’ is for kids of all ages and anyone who wants to be a kid! Each episode explores big feelings alongside a deep and simple theme.
Rook Interiors (Sam Rook) – An interior design firm that focuses on sustainable, safe spaces that reflect the client, not the trends.
Steven KP Jewelry (Steven KP) – An art and design practice rooted in working with sustainably sourced materials to create wearable works of art and adornment that embody material empathically and working collaboratively with material’s thresholds.
