Worcester, MA The Worcester Business Development Corp. (WBDC) is officially rebranding the former southern campus of Saint-Gobain Abrasives (SGA) as GreenTech Park.
WBDC acquired the 51-acre campus in November 2022, providing an opportunity for Saint-Gobain to right-size its operations while enabling WBDC to address the site’s underutilized, outdated manufacturing infrastructure. Through a strategic redevelopment initiative, GreenTech Park is poised to revitalize this historically industrial property into a hub for innovation, sustainability, and job creation.
With more than 850,000 s/f of manufacturing space, GreenTech Park will be developed in multiple phases over several years. Phase one is already well underway, focusing on environmental remediation and demolition of obsolete structures, approximately 75% of which have already been removed. Following this phase, WBDC will implement critical infrastructure upgrades, including new roadway networks and enhanced public utilities such as water, sewer, and drainage systems.
The redevelopment will result in pad-ready sites designed to attract advanced manufacturing and create jobs. Future buildings on the site will range from 50,000 to 450,000 s/f, offering scalable opportunities for business growth and job creation. WBDC will prioritize tenants in high-tech, advanced manufacturing, and research and development, particularly those committed to climate change mitigation and sustainable practices.
“This is the largest project in our 60-year history and marks a transformational moment for the WBDC,” said Craig Blais, president of the WBDC. “GreenTech Park represents our commitment to creating development opportunities that focus on sustainability, resiliency, and the future of manufacturing in Worcester. This is a crucial step in attracting the next generation of industry leaders to our region.”
