Dover, NH Cathartes begins its first mixed-use residential project in the town’s Waterfront District known as “The Truette.” The project, which reflects the city’s long-held desire to create an extension of the city’s downtown by transforming the mostly vacant land into a mixed-use destination with a centrally located neighborhood and vibrant commercial district, is anticipated to start pre-leasing late summer 2025.
“From the project’s name to its sophisticated yet refined details, The Truette evokes a sense of living life in natural rhythm with the river,” said Cathartes director of asset management Jackie Huber. “Since the beginning, we’ve worked to craft a neighborhood inspired by its surroundings, that celebrates Dover’s culture while creating a modern landing place for those who want to live in the community’s walkable downtown. We look forward to welcoming the community in to enjoy all The Truette has to offer.”
Influenced by its location at a meander in the Cochecho River, the project’s name comes from the Old English word “truett,” which translates to “river bend.” Residents and visitors to The Waterfront District will have increased access to the river, with amenities including a public dock and the to-be-built Dover Waterfront Pavilion. Additionally, residents will have access to a new public park along the waterfront, extending the existing Henry Law Park by creating additional outdoor space and walking trails along the river.
A variety of unit sizes and price points have been designed across the project’s 197 apartments, including studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. High-end finishes are found throughout the apartment homes with panoramic river views, kitchens featuring quartz countertops, large islands and stainless-steel appliances, private balconies, along with in-home washers and dryers. The Truette will offer residents a number of community amenities, including a rooftop lounge & terrace, elite athletic spaces with Pelotons, free access to kayaks and paddleboards, weekly resident events, and pet-friendly amenities like a grooming room.
The Truette will also be introducing a one-of-a-kind housing concept to the town: 23 townhome apartments with access to all residential and commercial amenities in The Truette’s mixed-use buildings. The Truette Townhomes, which are 2,200 s/f, will feature upgraded finishes, a fireplace, and private garage parking.
Within The Truette will be a 5,000 s/f flexible Cowork space, which will feature private offices, dedicated workstations, and conference rooms, including a 20-seat boardroom. Cowork will also offer flexible memberships and conference room rentals by the hour. Adjacent to the Cowork will be a new restaurant concept from three-time “Chopped” champion and James Beard semi-finalist Evan Hennessey.
