It finally happened! Spring showed up! That means Realtors from across the country, including representatives of all the New Hampshire Realtor boards will descend on Washington, D.C. during the first week of June. The purpose of this gathering is to meet with our respective congressmen to discuss bills impacting real estate that are in the house or senate and may pass between these entities for passage mid-year or going forward. It’s an exciting event.
Feeding into this system is RPAC – Realtors Political Action Committee. This is a volunteer political action committee where Realtors contribute to support candidates who advocate for the interests of the real estate industry and homeownership.
This group supports various programs and grants to promote and protect the real estate industry. Programs include The Corporate Ally Program, The Independent Expenditure Program, and the Issues Mobilization Program, to name a few. Grants are available to Realtor boards for consumer advocacy, outreach, diversity inclusion, and housing opportunities.
We, in New Hampshire, have lobbied to save the 1031 exchange, wet land set-backs, clean drinking water initiatives and more. And this from NHAR:
Want to win a $600 New Hampshire weekend getaway? Donate at the $99 Club level to the New Hampshire Realtor Political Action Committee (RPAC) or the Issues Mobilization Fund (IMF) before July 1, and you’ll be entered.
Check out NHAR’s website for more details and more initiatives that have been funded by RPAC!!
Our members’ event at TFMoran will have an RPAC raffle and a CIBOR board member will be available to answer questions you may have. Happy spring!
