Stapleton named senior vice president and director of foreign exchange & international services at Rockland Trust

Brockton, MA Rockland Trust has appointed Thomas Stapleton as senior vice president and director of foreign exchange & international services. Stapleton will manage the bank’s activities related to international currency transactions including managing foreign exchange risk, executing trades, cross border risk mitigation and advising clients on global business matters. 

“Tom brings deep expertise in global markets, foreign exchange, and international trade finance, with a proven ability to guide clients through a wide range of economic climates,” said Tracey Scalata, senior vice president and director of treasury management services at Rockland Trust. “We are excited to welcome him to Rockland Trust, where his leadership in cross-border transactions, risk management, and capital markets will be a tremendous asset to our team and customers.” 

Before joining Rockland Trust, Stapleton spent 15 years with People’s United Bank and following its acquisition with M&T Bank. During his tenure, he was responsible for sales and product development related to supply chain finance, trade finance, and foreign exchange products. He previously held senior roles at several prominent financial institutions including Bank of Boston, Fleet Bank, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. While at Bank of Boston, Stapleton was assigned to the branch in Argentina for three years, during which he traveled to Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile to serve clients engaged in trade within those countries.

Stapleton earned a bachelor of science in finance from Saint Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. He is fluent in Spanish and is a licensed United States Customs Broker. Additionally, he serves on the International Business Council of the Associated Industries of Massachusetts.
