Escrow Director
CATIC Commercial
What drew you to commercial real estate, and what keeps you passionate? I worked as a residential paralegal for 18 years before moving into the commercial side of transactions. I had seen many smaller commercial deals close while working on the residential side and became interested in learning more. I joined CATIC Commercial in 2016 and have enjoyed working closely with our staff underwriters, paralegals and of course our agents on both small and large commercial real estate transactions over the years. I think what keeps me passionate about what I do is that each transaction is uniquely different, so I continue to expand my knowledge daily.
What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in commercial real estate? Some advice I would give to another woman that is considering a career in commercial real estate is, there are many facets of commercial real estate to explore before deciding on what route to take. Try multiple positions, if the opportunity presents itself, to learn what each role consists of and if it would be a good fit for you. After working in residential real estate, handling every step of the transaction from beginning to end, I learned which step excited me the most, working with and reconciling closing figures, I used that passion to steer me in the direction of my current position.
