BOMA Boston update: Preparedness roundtable, CPR training and behind the scenes tour

Boston, MA For Preparedness Month, the BOMA Boston Preparedness Committee hosted a roundtable on hazardous materials and environmental issues in commercial real estate on Thursday, September 25th. Panelists shared their expertise on preparing for, reacting to, and recovering from hazardous situations in commercial properties. Led by Ashley Iannone, senior property manager, Cushman & Wakefield, the panel included three experts representing key areas of hazard management: Armando Lezama,?vice president of operations (New England),?UG2, Christopher McNulty,?exec business development manager,?ATI Restoration and Gabe Porter, safety and health specialist,?United States Department of Labor- OSHA.

The BOMA Boston Preparedness Committee and Allied Universal are once again holding the annual CPR Training free of charge for BOMA members. The training will be taught by Thomas McGuire, regional trainer - Northeast region, Allied Universal and will be completed in two hours. Participants will learn life-saving measures in adult, child and infant CPR as well as how to use an AED. All participants will receive a two-year certificate. This program is complimentary to BOMA members and will be limited to 25 participants. Enrollment will be on a first come first serve basis. Melissa Miller, business development manager with ATI Restoration, will be teaching an Accelerated BOMI Managing the Organization Class from October 22nd to October 24th. Class will take place at the BOMA Boston Office from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Managing the organization will prepare you to manage and lead your organization through improved communication, motivation, relationship and team building, project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Managers who take this course will be able to further develop their group leadership and management techniques and abilities, and analyze and improve their relationships with staff, colleagues, and owners. Leasing & Marketing for Property Managers will kick off on October 28th and run every Tuesday and Thursday until November 18th. Taught by James Russell, director, asset services, Cushman & Wakefield, this course is a resource and how-to-guide for property managers who have been assigned the additional responsibility of leasing. The course covers everything from working with owners and prospective tenants, to creating marketing and leasing plans, to writing the actual lease. You will be provided with websites, techniques, and valuable resources to smooth your transition from property manager to leasing agent.
