Brookline, MA Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric), a leading electrical contractor throughout New England and the Southeast for nearly five decades, is providing electrical and telecommunications work for the Brookline Housing Authority at 32 Marion St. This new, six-story, 120,000 s/f affordable apartment complex for the elderly and disabled is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Located in Coolidge Corner, the development of 32 Marion St. marks a historic milestone as the town’s largest affordable housing initiative in 50 years.
Featuring nearly double the units, the complex will provide 115 energy-efficient one-bedroom apartments and will replace the existing Colonel Floyd Apartments built in 1959.
Onsite amenities for the building include a fitness room, media room, game room as well as a kitchen area and common spaces. Residents will have access to the MBTA Green Line, bus routes, and a variety of shops and restaurants.
As construction continues, Griffin Electric is responsible for all power and lighting, fire alarm and emergency systems, as well as an area of refuge and electric vehicle charging stations on-site. The Griffin team is also installing tele/data, intercom, and security systems for the facility, as well as a 75kW photovoltaic system and a bi-directional antenna.
Delphi Construction, Inc. of Waltham, MA is serving as the project’s general contractor. Davis Square Architects of Somerville, MA and BLW Engineers, Inc. of Littleton, MA are the project’s architect and electrical engineer, respectively.
