“Ricky is always willing to spend his time working with others to help the people around him. Whether it’s younger developers or agents who are looking for a mentor or the time he puts in with the For Kids Sake Foundation helping families with a child battling cancer he consistently puts others’ needs in front of his own.”

What recent accomplishment or initiative are you most proud of, and what impact did it have on your firm, clients, or community? V10 Development successfully completed and opened The Cove in Worcester, a 173-unit mixed-use multi-family development on the outfield wall of Polar Park on time and on budget. This project is iconic for Worcester and the Canal District and will be a trophy asset for V10 Development for years to come.

What is one major challenge you’ve overcome as a leader, and what did it teach you? Having to be able to roll with the punches and pivot quickly when issues arise. In this tough environment everything is a rollercoaster and you must be prepared for when something changes and be able to react quickly and find a solution. On Cove we had our loan proceeds reduced due to the changing rate environment causing a fully capitalized project in a blink of an eye, be short millions of dollars. I rolled up my sleeves and picked up the phone and raised the additional capital as the foundation was going into the ground.

How do you inspire, motivate, or mentor others within your organization? I preach the idea of control what you can control. In this type of market so many factors are working against you so when the times are tough figure out the parts of your business that you can work on and improve and strive to excel in those areas.

What advice would you share with emerging professionals striving to become future leaders in commercial real estate? Surround yourself with great people and mentors. When I was getting started in the work of large scale multi family if it wasn’t for having great mentors around me I would not have had the ability or confidence to be able to execute on the jump from 9-unit condo developments to large scale multi family. We host developer round tables very few months where we bring investors and developers from around the state together to share what’s working and whats not and come up with ways for everyone to succeed.

What daily habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated as a leader? Waking up early and getting in a workout. This sets my mind in the right place for the day

What book, podcast, or app has most influenced your approach to leadership? Art of The Deal by Donald Trump

Who has had the greatest impact on your career or leadership journey? My mother. She pushed me to always lead from the front and be confident in my decisions.
