What recent accomplishment or initiative are you most proud of, and what impact did it have on your firm, clients, or community? I was responsible for the completion of 995,000 s/f of new and repurposed construction in Kendall Square: The Residences at 165 Main St. and One Broadway additions and renovations on the edge of MIT’s campus, which have enriched the campus and neighborhood with a grocery store, restaurants, and One Broadway’s community lobby. 40 Thorndike is a re-invention of the former Middlesex Courthouse into affordable housing, Class A office space, green space, and retail. Both projects involved intensive community engagement, had substantial sustainability components, and have transformed their blocks.

What is one major challenge you’ve overcome as a leader, and what did it teach you? While working on several complex projects that spanned 8 to 12 years from start to finish, it was challenging at times to hold internal and consultant teams together and maintain project momentum. These experiences taught me how to survive setbacks, build teams that are grounded in collaboration, and adapt to project needs while maintaining the larger vision.

How do you inspire, motivate, or mentor others within your organization? I strive to empower team members and invest in their growth, to create collaborative teams and lead by example, to own my mistakes and the mistakes of my team, and to praise team members publicly but provide criticism privately. I also try to remind each team member regularly how their specific work is tied to the end product and why it’s meaningful. Finally, I celebrate both the small and big wins as a team.

What daily habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated as a leader? I rise early for quiet reflection and stay inspired by classical singing and trail running.
