Annual Light Up Seaport presented by Citizens held December 5th

Boston, MA Light Up Seaport Presented by Citizens brings the city together for a magical evening of celebration and holiday entertainment to Boston Seaport. Now in its ninth year, this beloved community tradition kicked off the season with the lighting of Boston’s largest holiday tree, live performances, and a special appearance by Seaport’s own winter celebrity, Betty the Yeti.

Light Up Seaport Presented by Citizens is part of Snowport, Boston Seaport’s annual transformation into a festive waterfront destination filled with seasonal experiences, local shopping, and holiday cheer. Guests can download the Seaport Insider App ahead of their visit, as a way to discover all there is to Snowport this season. 

“Snowport has grown into a winter tradition for the local community and Citizens is committed to helping attendees create holiday moments that matter,” said Lisa Murray, Massachusetts state president, Citizens. “Light Up Seaport continues to bring neighbors together year after year, celebrating the spirit that makes Boston home.”

Throughout the Snowport season, the neighborhood features:

• Snowport Curling Lanes brought to you by Mass General Brigham Health Plan 

• Snowport Tree Market: fresh cut trees and evergreen trimmings 

• Seaport Holiday Stroll: Shop exclusive neighborhood deals and enjoy festive surprises. 

• Citizens and Saint Francis House Winter Essential Drive: In addition to December 5, guests can visit the Citizens tent inside the Snowport Holiday Market to drop off warm winter items on December 19, and December 27.

• Menorah Lighting: celebration in partnership with Chabad of Downtown Boston on Sunday, December 21, at 4:30 PM

• Betty the Yeti in Snowport

• Cocktail / Mocktail Crawl: from December through February.

• Après at The Current, a ski-inspired pop-up village with nine female founded brands. 

• New seasonal venues, including Island Creek Raw Bar and Ballers Boston Rink

• Snowport Holiday Market presented by Constant Contact: discover 12+ small businesses, more food than ever before, custom cocktail bars, festive decor, live music, and more. 

Boston’s largest holiday tree standing at 52 ft. tall and adorned with 10,000 twinkling lights was lit up at the Seaport Common. The program, hosted by Cheermeisters Ashlee Feldman of JAM’N 94.5 and Herv JeanBaptiste, featured performances by Boston City Singers, Hill House The Band, Lourde Childs, The Gracenotes, Bermuda Search Party, and additional surprise acts. The event was also broadcasted live on WBZ-TV CBS Boston, with a full show featuring live performances, segments highlighting the best of Snowport, and some special guests. WBZ anchors Lisa Hughes and David Wade joined the celebration onstage as well as for viewers at home.

The event also featured Betty the Yeti at Betty’s Blizzard Bluff, located in The Superette Courtyard, with cotton candy from Puffy Clouds, music by DJ Brian Halligan, and a wintry setting featuring illuminated evergreens and holiday décor. Guests who download the Seaport Insider App and link their credit card will become a Seaport VIP and can receive perks across the neighborhood.
