NeighborWorks Housing Solutions raises record $325,000 at Opening Doors, Changing Lives Gala

Quincy, MA NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS) raised more than $325,000 during its “Opening Doors, Changing Lives” Gala, held November 6th at Granite Links Golf Club, setting a new record for the organization’s biggest fundraising event.
The annual signature fundraising event, this year presented by Eastern Bank, brought together community leaders, supporters, and friends in support of NHS’s mission of providing housing assistance and other critical services to those served by the organization. This past year, NeighborWorks Housing Solutions and its partners have assisted over 30,000 families and has committed investments of over $250 million into the region to help support and sustain affordable housing and housing stability.
A highlight of the gala – which featured cocktails, dinner, entertainment, a silent auction, games, and prizes – was the spotlight on residents living at The Lincoln in Brockton. The former historic school was transformed into an award-winning community featuring 37 affordable apartments for seniors, and now is also certified as a contributing historic structure to a historic district by the National Park Service.
The gala also featured the presentation of the Good Neighbor Award to Eastern Bank, which was honored for its longtime support of community and housing development and many efforts on behalf of affordable housing advocacy. Together, Eastern Bank and NeighborWorks Housing Solutions share a mission to actively serve marginalized groups and underserved areas in the region. NHS is excited about the recently completed merger with HarborOne and looks forward to working with Eastern it its growing footprint in the region.
“Many thanks to the board and the entire NeighborWorks team for this honor and our long-standing partnership,” said Bob Rivers, executive chair and chair of the board at Eastern Bank. “Especially for your guidance and insights in making our investments in community more thoughtful and impactful.”
“What an amazing evening of festivity, camaraderie, and purpose,” said Robert Corley, CEO of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions. “It was very special to welcome our seniors from The Lincoln, as they help remind us why we must continue to strive for more affordable housing options every day. A heartfelt thank you as well to everyone, with special gratitude to our many event sponsors for their unwavering dedication to our mission.”
The Wells Fargo Foundation was named this year’s Neighborhood Sponsor for its generous donation of $40,000 in support of the gala; the gala’s Pillar Sponsors were NEI and Colonial Federal.
