2026 Women in Construction: Caroline Petrovick, AMCON
Director of Construction
AMCON
What women should know about industry opportunities: I wish more women knew how many opportunities exist beyond what many people picture as the traditional construction roles, and that it’s not as intimidating as it may seem. Women are a growing force in the industry, stepping into leadership roles across all areas of construction including operations, estimating, finance, business development, marketing, and the field. Construction is about problem solving, communication, and resilience, which are all areas that many women excel in.
Advice for women starting their careers: I encourage women beginning their careers to be intentional about finding mentors and advocates. Ask questions and seek feedback (which is hard!). Construction is built on relationships and trust. Being curious and willing to learn, and then ultimately willing to share your knowledge, goes a long way in strengthening relationships and creating opportunities for your career. Investing in these relationships early and throughout your career is the most important piece of advice I can give.
Fun or unexpected fact: For years I drove a car that I had converted to run on vegetable oil. I didn’t pay for gas for almost 5 years.
