2026 Women in Construction: Holli Robinson, NV5

Project or accomplishment you’re most excited about: I am especially proud of the work I have been leading in elevator modernizations and building infrastructure upgrades for public housing and municipal facilities across Massachusetts. These projects directly affect people’s everyday lives, from seniors and families to residents with disabilities, by making buildings safer, more reliable, and easier to navigate. It is rewarding to help communities invest in spaces people depend on and to work alongside a team that cares deeply about delivering thoughtful, lasting improvements.

Emerging challenge or opportunity ahead: One of the biggest opportunities ahead is modernizing aging buildings while reducing energy use and environmental impact. As communities work toward electrification and sustainability goals, they need practical and cost-effective solutions. I am preparing by building expertise in electrification strategies, HVAC modernization, and capital planning, so I can help clients make smart decisions that balance performance, comfort, budget, and long-term resilience.

Habit that keeps you focused: I try to plan one thing I am looking forward to each week. Coffee and a color-coded calendar help as well.

What women should know about industry opportunities: I wish more women knew how creative, collaborative, and people-centered construction can be. There are so many roles beyond the traditional job site, including project management, planning, sustainability, and leadership. The industry values strong communication, organization, and problem-solving, which are areas where women often excel. It is a field where you can build a meaningful career and see the real-world impact of your work. There is room for many personalities, backgrounds, and career paths.

Advice for women starting their careers: Give yourself permission to learn, ask questions, and take up space. Seek out mentors, trust your instincts, and remember that your perspective matters. Construction needs thoughtful, empathetic leaders just as much as technical experts. If you ever find yourself in spaces where your voice is not welcomed or valued, look for environments that respect your ideas and support your growth. It is a field where you can build a meaningful career and create work you are genuinely proud of.
