What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? There is so much more to the construction industry than most women realize! Everyone always just assumes it’s only manual labor, but there are so many other opportunities in the construction industry. Also, you do not have to pick and stick to one role – the more avenues you try, the more versatile you become. I always recommend experiencing several roles before settling in. The ability to try different roles while still advancing your career makes the construction industry so appealing.

What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? Always ask questions! There is no such thing as a bad, wrong, or silly question. Being curious will allow you to grow and learn new things at an exponential pace. Questions will expose you to new information and experiences that help advance your career. People will recognize when you ask questions, which will help you build relationships and a network. A strong network is the foundation for success in the construction industry.

Share one fun or unexpected detail about yourself that colleagues might not know. Growing up, I thought I was going to be an architect.
