What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? The construction industry offers a diverse range of opportunities that many women may not be aware of in what has been a male-dominated industry. There are many careers that can be pursued such as skilled carpentry, project management, safety management, architecture, engineering, finance, marketing, human resources, and technology. The industry offers competitive salaries, benefits, training, apprenticeships, and networking opportunities. The culture in the construction industry is evolving, with a growing emphasis on inclusivity and respect in the workplace creating a welcoming environment.

What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? Embrace your unique perspective and strengths. The construction field has traditionally been male dominated, but your insights as a woman can contribute significantly to innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving. Here are several ways to leverage this perspective: 1. Confidence in your voice; 2. Build a support network; 3. Continuous learning; 4. Embrace challenges; 5. Advocate for yourself. By recognizing the value, you bring to the industry and engaging with your peers and mentors, you’ll not only enhance your own career but also contribute to transforming the construction landscape.

What habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated during a busy week? Taking a deep breath at the start of my day with a hot cup of espresso and listening to Soothing Pod relaxation tunes.

What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity? Spending special moments with my two granddaughters and going to their Lacrosse games is the ultimate recharge for me!
