What current or recently completed project, accomplishment or initiative are you most excited about? I’m proud to have been recently elected as the chair of the Massachusetts Board of State Examiners of Electricians. After being appointed by governor Maura Healey as a board master member in 2023, it’s an honor to continue with this great opportunity, helping protect public safety while maintaining the high standards our trade is known for. We’re working to support the next generation of electricians by ensuring strong training, licensing, and professionalism across the industry.
What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? I wish more women knew that the trades are not the same as it was 20 years ago. Women belong in our industry. Just a few years ago, I was working on the Encore Boston Harbor casino, which had an estimated 500 women on the job, which is thought to be the most women on a construction crew in U.S. history. There’s also an ever-growing network of support for women in construction. The work is challenging and rewarding, and there’s always room to grow into leadership roles. Our industry needs skilled workers, and women belong here.
What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance, or creativity? My greatest source of energy and clarity is my family. As a proud mother of four and grandmother, being present in their lives from basketball games to cheer and everyday moments keeps me grounded and focused. Watching them grow into their own strength and leadership fuels my resilience and sharpens the perspective I bring to every room. I see my daughters in the young women rising behind us. Their growth fuels my resilience and sharpens the conviction I bring into every room. My family is my foundation and the reason I lead with purpose and expectation.
