Granite City Electric donates electrical supplies to five Mass. Habitat for Humanity Affiliates

Norwell, MA South Shore Habitat for Humanity, which has delivered quality housing in partnership with families in need for the past 40 years, has received a generous donation of electrical supplies from Granite City Electric for its local homebuilding project on Plymouth St., in Abington, Mass.

Through the Granite City Electric Partnership program, four other Massachusetts affiliates of Habitat for Humanity were also chosen to receive in-kind electrical supplies for home construction projects: Habitat for Humanity Metro West/Greater Worcester, Old Colony Habitat for Humanity, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth, and Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity.

Jeff Hammond, regional manager for Granite City Electric, said, “Our company has a strong commitment to giving back and feels privileged to contribute to so many charities, in particular, to an organization like Habitat for Humanity that assists so many families throughout Massachusetts.”

The mission of South Shore Habitat for Humanity is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter by partnering with families in need of affordable housing. Families put in “sweat equity hours” alongside local volunteers on the building of their home and purchase the home with a 30-year, affordable mortgage. Homes do have a deed restriction that maintains the affordability status of each home in perpetuity. Habitat Family Partners are selected through a competitive underwriting process based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner, and their need for adequate housing.
