Downes Construction earns three 2026 Build CT Awards from AGC CT

New London, CT Downes Construction has been recognized with three 2026 Build Connecticut Awards from the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC CT), honoring projects that reflect excellence in construction and meaningful community impact. The awards span a range of project sizes and sectors, highlighting Downes’ continued commitment to delivering high-quality spaces that serve communities across the region.

• New London Community Recreation Center; CM/GC New Large Construction ($30 million)

The New London Community Recreation Center represents a major investment in the city’s future. It’s a welcoming, multi-use space designed to bring residents together and support health, wellness, and connection. Built through strong collaboration among partners and stakeholders, the center reflects a shared vision for creating a lasting community resource.

• Bloomfield Public Library - Prosser Library; CM/GC Mid-Size Renovation ($10 million–$30 million)

The new Prosser Library reflects a meaningful investment in Bloomfield’s future. It’s a modern, welcoming space designed to support evolving community needs. Expanded gathering areas and a dedicated Community Room for public meetings and events reinforce the library’s role as a hub for connection and engagement. The project is LEED Silver certified.

• Goodwin University Nursing Simulation Center; CM/GC Small Renovation ($10 million)

At Goodwin University, the fifth-floor Nursing Simulation Center provides a cutting-edge training environment that supports hands-on learning for future healthcare professionals. The project underscores the importance of investing in educational spaces that directly impact workforce development and community well-being.

Across all three projects, Downes partnered closely with owners, designers, consultants, and local stakeholders to deliver spaces that balance quality, functionality, and long-term community value. As an employee-owned construction management firm, Downes emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and shared success throughout the building process.

The AGC CT Build Connecticut Awards recognize excellence in construction across the state, honoring projects that demonstrate innovation, craftsmanship, and positive community impact.
