Boston, MA VERTEX project advisory managing director Christy Murphy was recognized as Mentor of the Year at this year’s BWiC 2026 Inspire Awards.

Organized by the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGCMA), the BWiC 2026 Inspire Awards honor trailblazing women in construction who “embody leadership, generosity, innovation, and unwavering dedication” across six categories.

Murphy joined Compass Project Management, now a VERTEX company, as a project executive in 2016 and was appointed to managing director, Northeast in 2025.

“I have worked with Christy since the start of her career out of college 25 years ago. From her first tentative steps to the full gallop that she embraces today, she is deliberate about passing on her knowledge to the young people who have come after her. Her emphasis on integrity, hard work, and passion have nurtured a whole new generation of creative thinkers in our industry,” said Tim Bonfatti, senior advisor, VERTEX.

With 25 years of construction project management experience, Christy oversees major capital projects and provides insights that result in successful outcomes for healthcare, higher education, and municipal clients. As a leader, she champions a culture of knowledge-sharing and growth opportunities for every team member. She is also a founding member of the Building Women in Construction Committee, a regular industry speaker, co-host of the Behind the Façade podcast, and a volunteer for AGCMA’s Build Her Mentorship Program.

“Christy is an exceptional team builder who consistently recognizes and values the contributions of every team member in delivering successful projects. She understands that strong teams are built through meaningful investment in people and actively elevates team culture through her leadership,” said Gregg Snyder, vice president, Campus Planning and Operations, Boston University. “Christy develops confident professionals who support one another, communicate openly, and grow together. Through intentional mentorship and inclusive leadership, Christy creates high-performing teams where trust, accountability and collaboration are standard.”
