Morizio joins Ionic Development Company as project manager

Boston, MA According to Ionic Development Company, the full service real estate development and consulting company, Michael Morizio has joined the firm as project manager. As project manager, Morizio will play a key role leading the firm’s continued growth across its higher education portfolio in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. With over 15 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects in higher education environments, Morizio brings a deep understanding of institutional needs, stakeholder coordination, and occupied campus construction to Ionic’s higher-education clients.

Prior to joining Ionic, Morizio spent a significant portion of his career at MIT, where he led capital renewal initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and campus improvement projects within an active academic setting. Morizio also served on the MIT Campus Sustainability Working Group, collaborating with stakeholders to align construction practices with the Institute’s long-term environmental goals.

Morizio joins Ionic as the firm advances several projects at the University of Rhode Island, including the Boss Ice Arena, Carothers Library, and the Gender and Sexuality Center. As Owner’s Project Manager, he supports the university’s active capital improvement and asset protection initiatives, overseeing a diverse portfolio of building and infrastructure projects including project oversight, construction administration, and budget and schedule management. He will also support other major New England developments that the Ionic team is working on, including the Providence Art & Design Center, a roughly 250,000 s/f mixed-use project at Parcel 5 in Providence’s I-195 Redevelopment District, and Parcel D-4 in Boston’s Seaport District.
