Newton, MA The SIOR New England Chapter held its annual golf outing and charity event on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Brae Burn Country Club. The golf outing was the biggest in the SIOR Chapter’s history that goes back to the 1990s. There were 72 golfers in an eighteen-hole scramble. The weather was perfect at 75 degrees. Attendees registered at 11:30 a.m. and were able to practice at the driving range and putting green until the 1:00 p.m. start. There was a box lunch provided for all participants. Dacon was the marquis sponsor for the event and helped with the registration table. Gifts were provided including SIOR Chapter hats, golf balls, cigars, fans, etc. The golf outing lasted until 6:15 p.m. and then the reception followed.
Over 80 people attended the reception and chapter president George Paskalis welcomed everyone and thanked Dacon for sponsoring the event along with other sponsors. Chuck Reilly of Dacon welcomed everyone and then introduced Dr. Aaron Morehouse of Hale Education. The charity organization for the golf outing was Hale Education which is a local non-profit organization located in Dover and Westwood, MA. They connect people from all walks of life with the outdoors to enjoy and explore nature. Hale has over 120 acres of outdoors and their programs and work span the entire property and beyond.
The Hale Westwood facility includes ponds, trails, plants, animals, birds, fish, and insects that spark curiosity. Lifelong learners enjoy limitless opportunities for growth and discovery here, whether they’re overcoming a fear of heights on the challenge course or spying on a family of deer along a trail. They provide camping and outdoor activities. They supported over 200 kids for their summer camp and hiking, mountaineering, bikes, boating, climbing walls, etc. There are 5 weeks of camp and last year in total they served 16,000 kids. They partner with 189 schools in the area. The SIOR Chapter donated $4,500 to Hale Education.
We want to thank Bob Cleary who arranged this event at his club and Christina Rouse for staffing the event for the chapter. Photos from the event are below.
