East Brown Cow welcomes Stone Fox Creamery to Old Port Square for the summer season

June 26, 2026 - Owners Developers & Managers

Portland, ME East Brown Cow has welcomed Stone Fox Creamery to Old Port Square for the summer season. Beginning June 1, the Maine-made ice cream company serves its signature ice cream from a seasonal, mobile scoop shop at 46 Exchange St. With tables and chairs set up around the outdoor space, it offers residents and visitors a taste of locally crafted flavors made with rich, Maine dairy and ingredients sourced from producers across the state.

Founded in Monroe in 2009 and acquired by entrepreneur Stephen Simonds, Stone Fox Creamery has built a devoted following through its commitment to high-quality ingredients, classic Maine-inspired flavors, and super-premium quality. The company produces ice cream in its Searsport headquarters using Maine-sourced dairy and ingredients from local farms, creating a rich, creamy product with high butterfat content and minimal air incorporation. Or as the company puts it: “More stuff, less fluff.”

“We’re proud to welcome Stone Fox Creamery to Old Port Square,” said Jacob Soley, director of development at East Brown Cow. “Their commitment to local sourcing and craftsmanship aligns perfectly with our vision for Old Port Square as a place where people can discover some of the most talented makers and entrepreneurs in Maine. We’re excited to have them become part of the neighborhood this summer.”

“Stone Fox is about creating the best possible version of classic ice cream while celebrating the ingredients and traditions that make Maine unique,” said Stephen Simonds, owner of Stone Fox Creamery. “From wild blueberries harvested near our creamery to maple syrup from central Maine producers, every scoop helps support local farms and businesses.”

Simonds says that the addition of the Old Port Square location to its stores in Searsport and Castine provides an opportunity for the brand to meet a much bigger audience – and for that audience to taste flavors that reflect Maine’s food culture and agricultural traditions. “It’s a chance to bring some Midcoast magic to Portland and for us to really cross-pollinate with the food scene here.”

Located at 46 Exchange St., Stone Fox Creamery offers a rotating selection of the brand’s limited run of classic flavors including Maine Wild Blueberry, Maple Walnut, Grape-Nut, Allen’s Coffee Brandy, Vanilla, Chocolate, and seasonal specialties.

This summer, Old Port Square continues to evolve as a hub for community gathering and cultural programming. Other inspiring local businesses such as Novella Books, Maine’s Mobile Romance Bookstore, will pop up at the outdoor space. Stone Fox Creamery will also serve visitors attending the Old Port Makers Market, Resurgam Music and Arts Festival, and other community events throughout the summer.

The seasonal location will operate from June through September and is open daily from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. For more information about Stone Fox Creamery, visit stonefoxcreamery.com.
