What projects, initiatives, or types of work have been keeping your team busiest during the first half of 2026?
It has been extremely busy first half in 2026. We have a number of hotel properties under agreement and to close in the next couple of months. Many of these sales are of hotels that were not openly marketed but had multiple offers as the inventory of hotels for sale is low and buyer demand is high.
What trends or shifts have stood out most to you so far this year within your industry?
Buyer demand far outweighs hotels available for sale which creates multiple offers in hotels and has helped to maintain values.
What challenges or opportunities have had the biggest impact on your business during the first half of 2026?
Many hotel sales are taking place at a price that is higher than expected based upon the income approach but are realistic selling prices when looking at the price per room. Therefore, the need for a buyer, most of which own other hotels, is to create a business plan and pro-forma that can be acceptable to a lender.
As we look ahead to the second half of the year, what are you watching most closely?
We expect more of the same in the demand to purchase hotel/resort inn properties. The revenue per available room has dropped in most markets during the past couple of years. That trend did not continue for resort hotels in the winter months and therefor I am hopeful that it will hold for the upcoming summer and fall seasons.
