BOMA Boston update - boat cruise, networking nite and BOMI courses

Boston, MA BOMA Boston hosted the return of the BOMA Boat Cruise hosted by the Emerging Professionals on July 21st. BOMA members and guests enjoyed a night on the Boston Harbor with industry peers. It was a great experience for members to spend time out on the water and enjoy the sights of the city.

Networking Nite at Urban Wild is taking place on August 26th. Join BOMA Boston for a fun evening full of networking, games, apps and refreshments at Urban Wild’s Indoor Patio space. Enjoy games such as shuffleboard and Mario Kart, while the outdoor patio has classic lawn games and even more room to network. Celebrate the end of summer and join us! BOMI: Leasing & Marketing for Property Managers will take place this August, starting on August 25th and concluding on September 17th. Class will be held virtual via Zoom from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and will be taught by James Russell, director, asset services, Cushman & Wakefield. Predicting future opportunities for the property manager is challenging. In this course, property managers will gain the skills to successfully lease and marketing building space under favorable and adverse economic conditions. You will learn to conduct targeted market surveys and develop a marketing plan to please both the owner and tenant. Leasing and marketing are also approached in depth from legal and ethical angles as well as a financial standpoint. This course, which includes current, reliable resources, such as relevant websites, can help you stay on top of today’s marketplace. BOMI: Design, Operation & Maintenance of Building Systems Part II is taking place Thursdays & Fridays - 9/24, 9/25, 10/1, 10/2. This class will be held in person at the BOMA Boston Office from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and will be taught by Michael Gill, senior director, client services, C&W Services. This course provides information property and facility managers will need to make management decisions about various building systems and sites. These decisions will increase occupant safety and comfort while facilitating building efficiency to meet and organization’s business goals. This course is about understanding electrical systems and lighting, elevator maintenance and modernization, and pest and solid waste management. Other areas of interest covered in this course includes security issues, fire and life-safety systems, and energy management concerns. There are two types of membership in BOMA Boston: industry and affiliate memberships.

Industry members: Those who are involved in the ownership or management of commercial properties. This includes property managers, tenant coordinators, developers, etc.

Affiliate members: Those who provide a service to commercial building owners and managers. Examples include window cleaning companies, restoration specialists, construction companies, etc.
