Haverhill Public Library selects Erland Construction for renovation

Haverhill, MA The trustees of Haverhill Public Library have selected Erland Construction, in collaboration with CHA Solutions, OverUnder, and West Work, to lead a renovation focused on enhancing the functionality, accessibility, and long-term performance of Haverhill Public Library’s historic facility. The project will include a comprehensive replacement of the building’s exterior envelope and targeted upgrades throughout the three-story library.
Working with the project team, Erland will oversee the installation of new cladding, windows, doors, and roofing systems, while also managing interior improvements designed to support the library’s evolving needs. Renovations will include modifications to the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP-FP) systems to improve efficiency, flexibility, and overall building performance.
Additional site improvements will focus on accessibility and the visitor experience, including repairs and upgrades to ADA access points, landscaping, and hardscape elements surrounding the facility. Throughout construction, Erland will prioritize safety, planning, and phased execution to ensure library operations can continue with minimal disruption to staff and patrons.

“Public libraries are at the heart of a community,” said Ben McConchie, corporate & commercial group manager at Erland. “We’re proud to bring our expertise in occupied renovations and complex envelope replacements to this important project and help create a more accessible, welcoming, and resilient space for generations of Haverhill residents.”
