Standard Builders promotes Gonet to vice president of preconstruction
Wethersfield, CT Standard Builders, Inc. (SBI) has promtoed Justin Gonet to the newly established position of vice president of preconstruction.
A valued member of the SBI team for nearly a decade, Gonet has been instrumental in the company’s continued growth and success. Since joining Standard Builders as an Estimator in 2017, he has consistently demonstrated technical expertise, strong leadership, and a commitment to delivering value for clients. Throughout his tenure, Gonet has progressed through roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as project executive, where he led some of SBI’s largest and most complex client engagements.
With more than 25 years of construction industry experience, Gonet brings a combination of expertise in estimating, project management, and operations leadership. As project executive, he oversaw major construction programs for clients including Hartford Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital, and Yale University. In that role, Gonet led preconstruction planning and execution strategies for numerous complex projects, working closely with owners, design teams, and project partners to establish budgets, schedules, logistics plans, procurement strategies, and risk-mitigation approaches that positioned projects for success before construction began.
SBI has long provided comprehensive preconstruction services through its estimating department, supporting clients with early budgeting, constructibility reviews, value analysis, logistics planning, procurement strategy, and scheduling input. As client needs have grown and project delivery has become increasingly complex, SBI established the vice president of preconstruction role to further strengthen coordination among the many disciplines that contribute to successful project planning.
In this new role, Gonet will work closely with SBI’s estimating, marketing, virtual construction, and project management teams to align resources, streamline communication, and provide a consistent preconstruction experience across the company. His background in both estimating and operations gives him a practical understanding of how early planning decisions impact project execution, making him well-positioned to coordinate these efforts and support clients from pursuit through construction turnover.
“One of the things that has always differentiated Standard Builders is our ability to bring the sophistication and expertise of a much larger contractor to middle-market projects and clients,” said Joshua Sullivan, president of Standard Builders. “Justin has spent years leading preconstruction and project delivery for some of our most significant healthcare and institutional clients. In this new role, he will extend that leadership across our organization, ensuring that every SBI client benefits from the same strategic, coordinated approach to preconstruction.”
Gonet’s promotion reflects SBI’s commitment to developing leaders from within and recognizing those who consistently contribute to the company’s growth, culture, and long-term success.
