Portland, ME Colwen Hotels celebrated the opening of Residence Inn by Marriott and Moxy Hotel Portland Thompson’s Point, the first hotel in the city’s Thompson’s Point district. Developed by XSS Hotels and managed by Colwen Hotels, the five-story, dual-branded property introduces 148 guestrooms to one of southern Maine’s fastest-growing waterfront destinations.

Located at 220 Thompson’s Point Rd., the hotel places guests within Thompson’s Point, a waterfront neighborhood featuring a mix of arts, entertainment, dining, and cultural experiences. The destination is home to the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, Brick South, year-round events, eateries, cocktail bars, artist studios and more. Guests are within walking distance of the Portland Transportation Center, which provides access to Amtrak’s Downeaster rail service and Concord Coach Lines, and less than three miles from the city’s downtown waterfront and Old Port district.

Designed by Colwen Design and Purchasing, the hotel brings a distinctive point of view to the evolving Thompson’s Point district, with design elements that pay tribute to the neighborhood’s rich industrial history as a historic transportation and freight hub. Throughout the property, industrial-inspired architectural details connect the guest experience to the site’s past while reflecting the character of the surrounding neighborhood.

Residence Inn features 70 apartment-style suites designed for extended stays, complete with fully equipped kitchens, complimentary breakfast, outdoor grilling areas, and spacious accommodations for families, business travelers, and guests seeking the comforts of home while traveling. Moxy offers 78 guestrooms with contemporary styling, integrated technology, and vibrant social spaces tailored to today’s lifestyle traveler.

The property’s food and beverage program centers around Bar Moxy, which transitions throughout the day from a grab-and-go marketplace to an evening social hub, featuring local favorites including The Holy Donut alongside a curated selection of Maine craft beers from regional breweries, including neighboring Bissell Brothers Brewing.

Guests across both hotels have access to amenities including an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, 24-hour market, seasonal valet parking, and self-parking. As the only hotel located within Thompson’s Point, the property is well positioned to accommodate wedding guests, concertgoers, corporate groups, and attendees of the district’s expanding calendar of events.

“We’re excited to welcome guests to the first hotel in Thompson’s Point and introduce a hospitality experience that reflects the energy and character of this remarkable neighborhood,” said Christopher Rossi, general manager of Residence Inn and Moxy Hotel Portland Thompson’s Point. “Whether guests are visiting for a concert, a weekend getaway, business travel, or an extended stay, our team looks forward to providing an experience that feels authentically connected to Portland while offering the comfort, style, and service guests expect from Marriott.”

Residence Inn and Moxy Portland Thompson’s Point are now open and accepting reservations.

The property joins The Portland Collection, Colwen Hotels’ portfolio of hotels throughout Greater Portland, including Portland Harbor Hotel, Inn at Diamond Cove, Cambria Portland Downtown Old Port, and Portland Sheraton at Sable Oaks.
