Wood Partners breaks ground on 237-unit Alta Thoreau

Concord, MA Wood Partners, a national leader in multifamily real estate development, has broken ground on Alta Thoreau, a 237-unit multifamily community, located 20 miles northwest of Boston. Expected to be completed in February 2028, Alta Thoreau will offer a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes across two five-story residential buildings.
Located at 265 and 269 Forest Ridge Rd., Alta Thoreau features contemporary exterior architecture complemented by a Modern Agrarian interior design that draws inspiration from the character of its wooded surroundings. Residents will have access to a main amenity area, along with an active outdoor courtyard and a separate, quieter passive courtyard. Indoor amenities will include Pilates and yoga studios, a golf simulator and tavern lounge, and a work-from-home library, while outdoor offerings will include a pool, fire pits, a pet spa and a dog park.
Alta Thoreau will be Wood Partners’ first Passive House-designed community in Massachusetts, built to a rigorous standard for ultra-low energy use. The development will also include a portion of porous pavement, a more sustainable alternative to traditional paving, and will run entirely on electric power. Alta Thoreau will designate 25% of its homes as affordable housing.
With eight existing projects across Massachusetts, Wood Partners continues to expand its presence in the state with the development of Alta Thoreau.
“Concord’s identity has always been rooted in a strong connection between people, place and landscape,” said Jim Lambert, managing director at Wood Partners. “ Alta Thoreau reinterprets that tradition through a contemporary lens, combining modern design with a deep respect for the site’s natural setting and the community’s enduring character. We’re thrilled to be part of a town with such a rich history and contribute to the continued growth of the community.”
