September 25, 2026 - Spotlight Content

“At Timberline, our strength as a construction management firm comes from the depth and range of talent across every part of our organization. The four women we’re proud to feature this year, representing marketing, estimating, accounting, and project management, reflect the collaborative, cross-functional work that makes our company successful. Their contributions, along with all of our colleagues across the company, are integral to how we deliver for our clients throughout New England. We’re also glad to see the many talented women across our industry recognized in this issue, and we congratulate everyone being honored alongside our team this year.” - Steve Wassersug, President.

Senior Preconstruction Manager

What professional accomplishment or experience are you especially proud of?
I am particularly proud of the opportunities to contribute to our design-build projects. Working in design-build has allowed me to be involved from the earliest stages of a project, collaborating closely with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop budgets, evaluate constructability, identify risks, and establish effective project strategies. This journey has reinforced my passion for construction and continuous learning. Every project presents new challenges, opportunities, and lessons to learn, and I apply that knowledge to become a better construction professional.

What has helped shape the way you approach your work and career?
One of the biggest influences on my approach to work and career has been learning from the people I have worked with throughout my professional journey. Seeing experienced colleagues solve challenges, collaborate, and navigate different situations has taught me the importance of staying curious, asking questions, taking ownership, and remaining open to new perspectives. Those lessons shape how I work today, treating each project as an opportunity to learn, grow, build relationships, and support others.

What professional accomplishment or experience are you especially proud of?
At Timberline, I had the opportunity to lead the rollout of a new CRM system tailored to our project pursuit lifecycle. In project managing the effort, I worked collaboratively across departments and with the senior leadership team to shape the tool in a way that helps us better track leads and capture key information. It’s been great to see how it’s been adopted, improving communication and giving us smarter insights to support business growth. I’m excited to see how it continues to evolve.

What advice or perspective would you share with women building their careers in commercial real estate?
Take the leap! Trust your abilities, find teammates and mentors who support you, and seek out opportunities to learn. Commercial real estate can feel like a lot to break into, but there’s real room to carve out your own path. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, speak up in the room and volunteer for projects that stretch you. Even small steps outside your comfort zone can lead to real growth.

What are you most excited about in your work or the commercial real estate industry right now?
I’m excited to continue growing in my career and taking on new challenges. I enjoy working closely with project teams and being able to see how the financial side of a project comes together. I’m looking forward to building my skills, learning from the people around me and seeing how the industry evolves as technology makes our work more efficient.

What has helped shape the way you approach your work and career?
I believe that working closely with project managers, executives and field teams has shaped the way I approach my career. I’ve learned that strong communication and attention to detail are just as important as the skills needed to complete my piece of the puzzle. Every project and every team has something different to teach me, and I’ve found that being willing to ask questions, learn from others and take ownership has helped me grow throughout my career.

Assistant Project Manager

What are you most excited about in your work or the commercial real estate industry right now?
I’m most excited about shifting my perspective and learning the financial and operational side of construction after spending my early career out in the field. Coming from a construction background, I used to view buildings as physical structures – steel, concrete, mechanical systems. Now, I am learning how a building performs as an asset – managing budgets, client/tenant relations, and long-term value creation. Getting to connect the dots and further understanding the lifecycle of a property from the ground up is what I am most looking forward to.

What advice or perspective would you share with women building their careers in commercial real estate?
For anyone building a career in commercial real estate or construction, I would offer this perspective: in an industry that thrives on transparency and communication, your true impact isn’t about how much you can carry by yourself. It’s about how effectively you can clear the path for the people building the project, turning a collection of separate trades and contractors into a unified team moving in the exact same direction.
