Johnston, RI The Carpionato Group congratulates Kelly Coates and Angelo Marocco who will be ending their long association with the company.

For more than 30 years Coates and Marocco have played significant roles in the growth and success of the Carpionato Group. For decades they worked closely with founder Alfred Carpionato: Coates as senior vice president responsible for financing, development and leasing and later CEO, and Marocco as outside legal advisor. Under the direction of Carpionato, Coates and Marocco assisted Carpionato in building one of New England’s largest and most successful real estate development companies.

Since Carpionato’s death in 2018, Coates, Marocco and Carpionato’s wife, Sheryl (herself a long-serving company executive), have served as trustees overseeing the continued success of the Carpionato Group. Now, the trust controlling the Carpionato Group has a portfolio of over six million s/f of real estate assets comprised of Class A retail, office, residential, and hospitality products, and a $1.5 billion development project pipeline.

Coates and Marocco will retire as trustees this month, and Coates and Marocco will retire as CEO and president and outside counsel the following month. Domenic Carpionato, Carpionato’s son who has worked in the company for more than 10 years, will join Sheryl as a trustee. Charles Rogers, a highly regarded Rhode Island real estate lawyer, will also join as a trustee.

The Carpionato Group is grateful for Coates and Marocco’s service and contributions and wishes them well. Sheryl Carpionato welcomes the new leadership team and looks forward to continuing her husband’s legacy of excellence.
