Oxford, CT Quarry Walk – Oxford Towne Center featuring over thirty acres of panoramic views has earned the distinguished Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC) 2015 Celebrate Connecticut Award for uniquely contributing to economic growth in Connecticut.

“It is a very rare opportunity that a project such as Quarry Walk is able to meet so many consumer needs.  Quarry Walk will be a life and leisure experience; where vision, economic development and community come together to create a uniquely special place.  As Oxford’s Towne Center, Quarry Walk will include an unparalleled grocery market, pharmacy, bank, mixed retail, variety of restaurants, community green, post office, 1.5 miles of walking trails, 150 residential Units and so much more,” said Haynes Development owner Tom Haynes.

With over 215,000 s/f of commercial/retail space, anchored by the first “ground up” newly branded Market 32 by Price Chopper in Connecticut, Quarry Walk is being developed under a Village Center Mixed Use District zone.  The purpose of this zone is to permit and facilitate the development of a comprehensively planned mixed-use development which would provide a self-sustaining development that will serve as the commercial and cultural center of the community.  Quarry Walk will have a strong pedestrian orientation, provide for community gathering spaces, with specific design features making it an attractive place to live, work, shop and spend time.

“The $70 million economic development project will create a defined town center and provide the community access to key goods and services, including its first grocery story and a regional health care provider.  The 32-acre project is unique because it brings Transportation Oriented Development concepts to a rural area in a unique way and represents a major, transformative project for the community,” said Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments executive director Rick Dunne.

Developing Quarry Walk with an underpinning as a “Wise and Well Center” provides businesses and retailers a truly distinguishing competitive advantage by offering access to convenient healthcare resources in addition to a full array of retail goods and services. Creating a one stop destination will not only benefit the consumer, but will have far reaching appeal drawing customers from surrounding communities and beyond, and in turn benefits the business/retail community as well.

Quarry Walk will have a 30,000 s/f onsite medical office building anchored by Griffin Hospital, who is nationally recognized for both clinical and patient satisfaction and works to ensure the Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care dedicated to improving the health of our community, the quality of life and well-being of residents.

In addition to walking trails, there are plans for a doggy park, an amphitheater and there will be a large traditional community green flanked by boutique style retail shoppes and 150 units of apartment style and/or townhouse condominiums. There will be programmed activities such as concerts, art shows, street fairs providing fun and entertainment along the marketplace and community green drawing customers from far and wide.

Quarry Walk will be the place to spend the morning enjoying a fresh cup of coffee and a brisk walk or heading to the onsite fitness center or doing some mid-day shopping before grabbing lunch and enjoying the sights and sounds along the green, to enjoying a relaxing dinner al fresco at the end the day.  The goal is to have everything one needs all in a village style atmosphere with decorative street lighting, granite curbs and paver accented walkways and crossings and each building will feature stone right from the site.

Previously operated as Haynes Stone Quarry for nearly two decades, “Quarry Walk” not only reflects the fabulous stone walls which were artfully created into picturesque walking trails that wrap around the perimeter of the site, but is also a metaphor celebrating the proverbial “walk of life.”

With a full service grocer, pharmacy, doctors and dentists, banking and financial services, to an ACE Hardware store, USPS (Post Office), hair and nail salons, Quarry Walk will have a far reaching draw as a destination center and will provide an unparalleled concentration of foot traffic that a vast assortment of tenant mix provides.
