SIOR NE Chapter: Nahigian invited as guest speaker at Boston College

Newton, MA Rob Nahigian, SIOR,CRE,FRICS,MCR of Auburndale Realty Co., was invited and spoke at Boston College Corcoran Center for Real Estate and Urban Action by its director Taylor Perkins for its summer series. 

The Summer Series is by application only of which over 100 BC undergraduate students apply and only 26 are accepted. The series runs for five weeks of which each week presents a different speaker on various topics of real estate. Nahigian was the second week presenter on June 25, on the Commercial Leasing Process that ran from 10 am to 4 pm. The students were placed in groups for the entire class and topics included: income stream, revenue structure, space measurements, opex v. capex, reimbursements, band of investment approach, office and industrial construction and marketing design, creating a letter of intent, McCarthy v. Tobin impact on LOI and how to draft an LOI and RFP. 

During the last hour, the class was involved in a highly competitive, Do you want to be a millionaire with Commercial Leasing? There were five groups competing for the answers. Lunch was also served during the class which allowed students time to collaborate. 

Nahigian will also be teaching the Fall Semester to the undergraduate juniors and seniors on Commercial Leasing: Strategies and Best Practices. The fall credit course has already been fully registered. He will be providing comprehensive insights into commercial real estate leasing from both the landlord and tenant perspectives over the semester. Topics will include lease negotiations, market analysis, financial considerations and deal structuring for industrial, office and retail properties. 

Also included will be evaluating lease terms, understanding key clauses, navigating common pitfalls and developing effective leasing strategies. Guest speakers may be planned. The semester starts August 31 on Monday afternoons.
