The Boulos Company arranges sale of 8,800 s/f office space

July 07, 2023 - Northern New England

Brunswick, ME Knickerbocker Group purchased 21 Stanwood St. and will convert part of the 8,800 s/f space into an office. The current tenant, Women’s Fitness Studio & Spa, will downsize and remain in the building. Knickerbocker Group offers architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, construction, real estate, and property management services from offices in Boothbay, Portland, and soon, Brunswick. With over 115 employees, and growing, this latest expansion is a reflection of the company’s sustained growth over 45 years. The group is 100% employee-owned, which played a role in their property search. One goal was to find a location that was convenient for staff who live between Boothbay and Portland.

21 Stanwood St. dates to the 1850s, when it was home to Brunswick Manufacturing.

“Our team was drawn to the building for its unique character and historical charm,” said Knickerbocker Group president Danielle Betts. “The new office is designed to be an open, collaborative space, with 11–11.5-foot-high ceilings and exposed post-and-beam construction. The historic brick walls and large window openings on all four sides will be left intact, lending an airy, light-filled quality to the creative space.” Renovation work is targeted to begin this summer and the group hopes to occupy the space by early fall. This isn’t the first time Knickerbocker Group has renovated a historic building to accommodate its growing team. In 2020 the group did a complete fit-out of a two-story, 6,500 s/f brick building in West Bayside, which is now their Portland office.

The Boulos Company’s Nate Stevens and Samantha Marinko represented Knickerbocker Group in the sale, and Sylas Hatch of The Dunham Group represented the seller.
