The Hingham Shipyard celebrates its rebirth with 1.2m s/f of waterfront residences, office and retail

In February 1942, the Hingham Shipyard was born. With 15,000 workers on-site building the Navy's newest ship, the Destroyer Escort, the shipyard produced 227 ships over 3 ½ years during World War II, a record not claimed by any other shipyard in the U.S. In June 2010, the Hingham Shipyard will celebrate its rebirth. With 1.2 million s/f of waterfront residences, office and retail, the Shipyard will be the South Shore's newest transit-oriented multi-use development. Residents at the Hingham Shipyard can experience true "car-free" living.
