10-28-2014 - ABX 2014 on Oct. 28-30 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center

October 21, 2014 - Construction Design & Engineering

ArchitectureBoston Expo (ABX) is set for October 28 - 30 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The largest building industry event in the northeast, ABX expects 10,000 A/E/C industry professionals in its third year.
71% of ABX attendees cite coming to the show to find new products. The sold out show floor will host over 400 exhibitors, 36% showcasing new products and services ranging from shingles harvested from logs of Wallaba wood, home appliances, commercial hand dryers, and digital motor technology to energy-efficient solutions that change the way people light the world. The floor also welcomes new residential products from 70 exhibitors and an increased presence of international companies and distributors.
In addition to the robust marketplace for buyers and sellers, the show floor features structures, projects, and designs that spark collaboration and highlight talent from the design industry. The Archistream from AIA VT will have a place on the floor. A 21' Airstream Globetrotter trailer refurbished by students from Norwich University, this vintage gem has transformed into a rolling design center. The WHAT'S IN team is back at ABX with an entirely new lounge space, Quad 2.0, a follow-up to their full-scale micro-unit in 2012 and inflatable cloud forest lounge space in 2013. The artists who brought the SOUNDSCAPE installation to the BSA's 2010 BASH, will host a site specific installation of light, sound, and projection to create an Oasis.
The 2014 conference program, led by industry experts, includes tracks on Climate Resilience, Socially Sustainable Design, and Building Performance. The 175 workshops and tours focus on the brass tacks of the industry, energy efficiency, professional development, and design. The tours include new and recently completed projects in the Boston area, including the Christina and John Markey Memorial Pedestrian Bridge, Brigham Green, and the Charles River's "Lost Half Mile."
The BSA will host its annual opening night party - the ABX Social. A must-do networking event, exhibitors, attendees, and BSA members mingle and enjoy seasonal cocktails while taking in views of Boston on the top floor of the BCEC. In addition, ABX accommodates a number of associations and alumni groups to have receptions on the show's second night.
Registration for ABX 2014, October 28 - 30 is available at abexpo.com.
ABX is produced by the Boston Society of Architects (BSA). Founder and long-time co-producer of Build Boston and Residential Design & Construction, the BSA retired the 27-year-old brands in 2012 to commit fully to the new show.
