2025 Ones to Watch - Industry Leaders: Steve Wassersug, Timberline Construction Corp.

Steve Wassersug
President
Timberline Construction Corp.

“Steve is a trusted, steady leader whose confidence, authenticity and supportive style guide our firm forward. He brings humor to his leadership, creating connection while navigating tough decisions with clarity. Never one to seek credit, Steve consistently champions the initiatives and people that strengthen our company and the broader CRE community.”

What recent accomplishment or initiative are you most proud of, and what impact did it have on your firm, clients, or community? I’m especially proud that we were recognized with awards this year for one of the Most Charitable Companies in Massachusetts and a Best Place to Work. These awards mean a lot because they shine a light on our team: their generosity, commitment and the culture they’ve helped build. The impact reaches far beyond our firm, as we’re strengthening our community and fostering a workplace where people feel inspired to be their best.

What advice would you share with emerging professionals striving to become future leaders in commercial real estate? My advice is to stay curious and learn everything you can about the industry. Work hard, show up consistently and treat everyone with respect. The New England CRE community is small, and the relationships you build early in your career will follow you. You never know when you’ll collaborate with someone again. Focus on being a reliable, genuine professional – your reputation is one of your most valuable assets as you grow into a future leader.

What daily habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated as a leader? I start early, get organized to handle priorities, so I am fully available to my team and clients.
