What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career so far, and what did it teach you? I joined PSH as a second- year associate with a tax law background but limited contract drafting experience. From the outset, I drafted contracts for diverse transactions, including tax credit financings, commercial real estate financings, and leases. This variety taught me to move beyond standard templates and tailor each agreement to the specific deal. As a result, I’ve improved my drafting skills and gained a deeper understanding of real estate and transactional law.
If you could give advice to someone just starting out in your field, what would it be? My advice to someone who is just starting out in real estate law is to absorb as much knowledge as possible. In the legal industry, every experience is valuable. Take every opportunity to sit in on calls or meetings, even if the time is not billable. I’ve found it extremely beneficial to listen to more experienced attorneys navigate client discussions. It’s a great way to build context, understand strategy, and develop your own approach.
