2025 Women in Construction: Andrea Gonzalez, DC Beane and Associates Construction Co.

Andrea Gonzalez
Assistant Superintendent
DC Beane and Associates Construction Co.

What is one project or achievement in your career that you are most proud of, and how did it impact your organization or community? In 2021, I worked as a resident engineer on a project that brought water to an indigenous community in remote Colombia. The community had been without water service for years and the project had faced significant barriers to progress. Despite many logistical challenges, the project was finally completed. This achievement filled me with pride. Providing access to clean water for this community made a tangible difference in their lives. To me, this project symbolized hope and resilience for a vulnerable population and demonstrated how infrastructure can uplift and transform communities.

Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry? I am inspired by the women engineers who paved the way before me. These trailblazers worked in environments with fewer opportunities, yet persisted and broke barriers. Their achievements remind me that while the path may not be easy, the rewards of contributing to a field that shapes the world are invaluable. Believe in the power of your voice and perspective. Stay curious and open to learning, but be confident in your abilities. Understand that your contributions are essential and that you, like me, belong here. The industry needs your energy, ideas, and determination to build a better future

What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work? I find that traveling and exploring new cultures is one of the best ways for me to recharge.
