2025 Year in Review: Sean McDonald, Erland Construction

Sean McDonald
President
Erland Construction

What accomplishment or milestone stood out for you or your firm in 2025? A defining milestone for Erland this year was breaking ground on the two new 10-story residence halls at Tufts University. This design/build project reflects an extensive and highly collaborative preconstruction effort to bring the vision for the project forward. Moving into construction was a proud moment for our team, and the partnership with Tufts University, Capstone, and Elkus Manfredi has been exceptional as we work together to deliver this transformative addition to campus.

As you look ahead to 2026, which emerging trends or shifts will shape opportunities for you, your firm, or your market sector? In 2026, we expect design/build to remain a strong trend as owners look for greater cost and schedule certainty. Bringing design and construction together earlier helps streamline communication, reduce risk, and create a clearer path to project completion. It’s a model that continues to deliver real value, and we’re ready to work alongside our clients to turn their design/build goals into successful outcomes.
