2026 Industrial Review Spotlight - Featured Project: Renovation for Solmetex manufacturing & warehouse expansion completed by Timberline Construction

Canton, MA Timberline Construction Corporation (Timberline), a top New England construction management firm, has completed the full-building renovation in Northborough for Solmetex, the market leader in water quality and safety solutions for the dental industry. The 58,000 s/f project transformed a former clean room environment into a modern, highly functional advanced manufacturing and warehouse facility designed to support product innovation, operational efficiency, and future expansion.

The scope of work began with demolition of the existing clean rooms, an equipment mezzanine, extensive MEP systems and underground utilities. Once the space was cleared, the Timberline team managed construction of new warehouse and manufacturing areas, offices, training rooms, break rooms, restrooms, and dedicated mechanical and electrical spaces. Significant infrastructure upgrades included new air handling units, rooftop mechanical equipment, process piping and electrical systems to meet the facility’s operational requirements.

Throughout the project, the team navigated evolving owner requirements and significant lead-time challenges for critical building systems and materials. Close collaboration with the owner, design team, and trade partners ensured the facility was delivered as a modernized manufacturing and distribution hub — one that supports Solmetex’s commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, environmental sustainability and innovation within the dental industry.

“This project is a great example of the kind of complex manufacturing work our team thrives on,” said Jason Emord, partner and executive vice president at Timberline Construction. “Through close collaboration with Solmetex and our design and trade partners, we delivered a facility that will support their growth for years to come, helping Solmetex continue its important work with advancements for the dental industry.”

Design and engineering partners for this building renovation include Studio Troika and Bala Consulting Engineers. It was completed in the spring of 2026.
