2026 Ones to Watch - Rising Stars: Matt Foulds, AMCON

Matt Foulds
Asst. Project Manager
AMCON

“Matt stepped into and completed a complex project, navigated multiple clients and challenges. Because Matt did the rounds in estimating, field, and now operations, he brings a valuable perspective to his role as APM.”

What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry, and what path brought you to your current role? I started my career into the construction industry working in a metal fabrication shop when I was 15. I instantly gravitated toward the fast-paced nature of the industry and was intrigued by the specialized processes and people that build our world today. Remaining in the construction space and moving to the general contractor world after school was an exciting and gratifying way to continue my career in the industry.

Who has been a mentor or influential figure in your career, and what is the most valuable advice they have shared with you? AMCON CEO Kayla Nassar has been a majorly influential figure for me. She rose through the ranks with the same start I did, in a rotational role at a different general contractor out of college, which was the same path she created here at AMCON -- and the one I chose to pursue. I was faced with numerous different sets of challenges during the three years I spend mentoring in estimating, superintendent, and project management roles. Despite her busy schedule, Kayla always took the time to check in, offer advice, and share stories of her time in a similar role at the start of her construction industry career.
