2026 Ones to Watch - Rising Stars: Derek Beyer, Chapman Construction/Design

Derek Beyer
Senior Construction Supervisor
Chapman Construction/Design

Derek is a strong field leader who excels on complex, fast-paced projects, consistently navigating challenges with a strategic, solutions-driven approach. He is a pleasure to work with and is highly regarded by clients and team members for his ability to adapt creatively and keep projects moving forward. He is known for his reliability, leadership, and ability to consistently deliver in demanding environments.

What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry, and what path brought you to your current role? I grew up with both my father and uncle working in and around all types of residential construction projects and developments. From early years of visiting job sites, to working summers during high school, and constantly hearing the phrase “stay in school, kid,” led me to Wentworth Institute of Technology, followed by a co-op internship and then a full-time position with Chapman Construction/Design. Thirteen years later, I am still learning and evolving with what each new day brings.

What accomplishment or project so far in your career are you most proud of? Two accomplishments and two projects, all looped into one that I am proud of, have been the completion of two classroom projects over the past two summers at Boston University. “Summer Slammers,” as they are infamously dubbed, put my project team and me to the test with tight schedules, long-lead items, and challenging building and site logistics, all within the busy summer months to ensure classes started on time for students in the fall. Both projects were delivered successfully and on time due to everyone’s determination and effort.
