ACS Development Corporation, a premier property developer, arranged the leasing of a 4,260 s/f office space at 70 Everett Ave., Harbour Pointe South, to Spring Air, a provider of mattresses since 1926.
"I loved working with ACS Development. They could not have been more professional and helpful," said Ed Bates, founder of Chelsea's Spring Air mattress factory. "Chelsea always was and still is a great place for business. I'm thrilled to have my company back."
Earlier this year, the company faced the closure of almost all of its factories, including one in Chelsea, after the failure of a management-led buyout. That's when Ed Bates, who founded the Chelsea factory in 1972, stepped in. After an appeal from his now out of work former employees, Bates decided to purchase his factory back.
"We're thrilled to host another great Chelsea success story," said Patricia Simboli, principal of ACS.
"Ed came to us in need of high quality space for his domestic and international licensees and clients with a fast turnaround and we were there to deliver."
Spring Air is widely recognized for its innovative mattresses and sleep sets that are distributed internationally and manufactured at plants in several countries including Mexico, Canada, United Arab Emirate, Indonesia, Australia, Ireland, Singapore and Israel as well as 13 factories in the United States.
ACS Development Corp. is one of Chelsea's largest property owners. It is a privately-held family company that owns, develops and manages office, industrial, retail and residential real estate in New England and Florida. Harbour Pointe South is one of three buildings in the Harbour Pointe Park and one of the 14 properties which ACS Development Corp. owns and manages in Chelsea, Mass.
