ASIS partners with U.S. Coast Guard for security training

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard, in an effort to stay abreast of new security trends and advances in technologies, held its annual workshop in Atlanta this year to coincide with ASIS International's 54th Seminar and Exhibits, Sept. 15-18. The Coast Guard's International Port Security Program held an indoctrination of new members, followed by two days of intensive instruction from ASIS security experts. ASIS is the preeminent organization for security professionals worldwide. The International Port Security Program seeks to improve maritime security worldwide by engaging in bilateral and multilateral discussions with maritime trading nations throughout the world. Seventy members from the program attended sessions on physical security and maritime transportation security. ASIS 2008 drew more than 21,000 security professionals from industry, government and law enforcement, along with product manufacturers and service providers from around the world. The seminar and exhibits are the most comprehensive education and networking event in the security industry—and one of the world's leading exhibition dedicated to security. The exhibit floor showcased thousands of cutting-edge technologies, products and services from more than 850 companies, spanning more than 270,000 net s/f in the Georgia World Congress Center. The ASIS exhibit is a one-stop opportunity for key decision makers who rely on this annual event to assess new products and plan security purchases for the coming year.
